Sixty years ago, Estella Nonosina Reid began a body of work rooted in discipline, care, and cultural responsibility. What started as teaching grew into a legacy carried forward through generations, shaped by music, movement, correction, and deep respect for where we come from. Voyage 60: “VĀ” honors that lineage and the sacred space that holds it together.

Under the creative direction of Tiana Nonosina Liufau, Nonosina moves through the vā—the living space that connects people, generations, and time. This anniversary performance travels through Sāmoa, Tahiti, Aotearoa, and beyond, honoring the unseen connections that bind culture, family, and responsibility. Each offering reflects a journey shaped not by trend, but by intention.

This evening is not a retrospective. It is a living expression of Polynesian excellence, grounded in tradition and alive in the present. Every sound, step, and gesture carries the work of those who came before and the care owed to those still to come.

Presented at the Grove of Anaheim, Voyage 60: “VĀ” is offered with gratitude to our elders, respect for every generation that carried the work, and responsibility to those who will inherit it.
